ザ・チャールストン(The Charleston)

Excellent Hotel, my husband and I stayed here on our last night in Galle before flying back home. The rooftop bar gave us a spectacular view of the last sunset with some very tastefully done cocktails. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfy. The staff were out of this world. We had to leave the hotel at 5am to go to the airport so they kindly made us a packed breakfast of fresh fruit and delicious bakery goods and they also arranged a morning coffee for us before we left. Very rare to get service like that these days. We will be back 😊

Beautiful hotel with impeccable service ✨ Great value for money compared to other hotels. Our room had a terrace overlooking the beautiful garden. I loved the fact that the rooms are de-cluttered and free from unnecessary amenities; however, you can get whatever you want (boiled water, slippers, q-tips etc) from house keeping within minutes. I would book again and can highly recommend staying at the Charleston.

Stayed for 2 nights with my wife on our honeymoon. The Charleston is a wonderful new hotel. We loved our stay, and they went out of their way to make our experience special, from surprising us with cocktails and desert, to helping us plan a great tour of Galle. The hotel is immaculate, well designed, and comfortable. A great stay!

Clean and cool, the Charleston offers great food, sharp rooms and impeccable service. I stayed for two nights, enjoyed the sunset over the terrace, the excellent coffee and heavenly food. The Italian chef was incredible. The air conditioned dining room is a welcome attraction, particularly for someone who has been exploring the fort and walking it's walls. The Charleston is a beautifully restored facade with an ultra modern boutique hotel behind.

Oasis in middle of Galle! Was boiling hot and needed a drink and visit bathroom!!! Stumbled across this place walking around Galle Fort! Would be a lovely place to stay. Nice bar area. Outside seating. Looked quite a ‘swish’ place. Good service

We visited Charlie’s restaurant within the hotel which is a lovely location overlooking the ancient walls and sea. We had a lovely seafood Provençal and fresh local catch. The service was very attentive and overall I would recommend this restaurant.

We did not stay here, but did enjoy a sunset beer and on another occasion we had a cup of tea. This is a lovely art deco themed place. The terrace for watching the sun go down is perfect. The staff are friendly, attentive and happy to help when they can.

Walking around the fort near Sunset we stumble the prawn this redeveloped residence. The bar is on the top floor overlooking the west over the ramparts. The wine list is quite reasonable with some wine by the glass and a beer was only ₹700 and a glass of rosé was about ₹2600.

We stayed at the Charleston during our recent trip to Sri Lanka as a group of six and stayed in the courtyard rooms. It was hands down the best stay of our trip. From the outset Dilani and the Charleston team went out of their way to make us feel welcome and at home. Loved the touches such as the cardamom cookie and cashews on arrival, which were delicious. The team were super accommodating and helped us organise day tours and an in-house massage and yoga mats for our use, which were much appreciated. The hotel itself is gorgeously restored with thoughtful design details and everything is immaculately clean. The courtyard rooms are spacious and well appointed. Turn down service was very thoughtful and loved the “fun facts” about Galle /Sri Lanka, the milk toffee and cute towel arrangements. We really enjoyed dining at Charlie’s Bar (ate there almost exclusively during our stay), with an amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner menu (with Sri Lankan and western options). All the dishes we tried were delicious and the seafood and Sri Lankan options were particularly good. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, with stunning views and a great place to try the creative and delicious cocktails (we loved the lemongrass gin offering). Prasanna and the team were super accommodating for all our different requests and always very kind and generous. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Charleston to anyone staying in Galle Fort and was certainly a highlight of the trip for us! Thanks again to the Charleston team for a wonderful stay.
